Harry James Potter lay outside his aunt and uncle's house, Number 4 Privet Drive, listening to the news through the open window.
'Nothing' thought Harry, a frown crossing his lips. 'Not a word...'
As he stared at the sky devoid of clouds, he heard a noise somewhere near him. Standing up to look around, he saw his uncle's face stare through the window. Before his uncle could accuse him of anything, he moved toward the general area the noise had come from.
Turning the corner, he came face to face with the one person he did not want to see this summer--or any summer for that matter--standing right there and looking quite at home for some reason. Harry couldn't see his face, but knew instantly who it was anyway.
Wondering what he could be doing in this neighborhood was beyond Harry, but curiousity got the better of him, as it always did, and he decided to follow him.

'Finally' Severus thought to himself as he Apparated into the alleyway closest to his home, Number 2 Spinner's End. 'Some rest before term starts again and those little hellions Dumbledore likes to call students drive me up the wall.'
He stepped out into the main street, flinching slightly in the sunlight. As he straightened his outer robe (which resembled a trenchcoat), he heard a soft footstep behind him. Raising an ebony eyebrow, he breathed in deeply through his nose, catching the familiar, yet unwelcome, scent of someone standing behind him. Subconsiously, he let the tip of his tongue trail slowly over the points that were a hidden set of fangs.
'Let whoever it is follow me home,' he sneered. 'Merlin knows I haven't eaten properly in a while...'
As the Potions Master walked, he was both pleased and unnerved to hear the footsteps continue behind him. Abruptly, he turned onto Spinner's End and waited by his door to see if the footsteps came closer, or went on their way.

'Huh?' Harry thought as he followed his Potions teacher down the street. He certainly wasn't recieving any strange looks from the neighbors.
Then, Harry stopped suddenly as Snape turned down into the worst part of town. 'What's he going down there for?' Narrowing his eyes, he continued, curiosity overwhelming him once again. He followed at a fairly safe distance until he saw the greasy professor stop in front of a house and appear to listen.
Immediatly Harry shrunk back, in case the dark-dressed man turned around and realized that Harry had been following him....he assumed that wouldn't go over too well once term started again.
When it became too much for Harry to bear, he boldly stepped up closer to the professor, wondering silently what business he had in this part of town.

Deciding that the footsteps were indeed following him, Severus unlocked his door and pushed it open a little. Feigning ignorance, he entered his home, leaving the door open a crack for the dual purpose of letting the stale air in the old house circulate and be replaced with fresh air, and allowing him to listen more closely.
He moved to a window and made a subtle show of pulling the tattered drapes closed.
'Ah. So that's who was following me....' his lips formed into a sneer at the thought that Potter now knew where he lived. He caught Potter's eye through the dirty window, and it looked like Potter was going to make a run for it. For a moment, Severus thought about letting him go, but quickly decided against it. Wondering vaguely why the little brat had to punish him in the Muggle world as well as the Wizarding one, he moved back to the door, opened it all the way and stood menacingly on the rickety front step.
He silently dared Potter to come closer. 'Knowing him,' Severus thought nastily, 'He'll do it...'

Steeling himself, Harry met his teacher's gaze defiantly. Walking up to the house, he suddenly felt...unnerved for some reason. Shaking his head and ignoring the feeling, he stopped directly in front of the Potions master.
"You don't actually live here, do you?" he asked, trying his hardest not to laugh. "This is probably the worst neighborhood I've ever seen!" Judging by the glare that seemed permanantly fixed on the older Slytherin's face, he wasn't happy with something. Harry assumed it was him....it was always him.

Severus glared hot death at the brash young Gryffindor. Then, for some reason unknown to him, felt a stab of outrage when the boy finally spoke.
"You don't actually live here, do you?"
Rolling his eyes, Severus decided to humor the boy by answering. "Yes. I do actually live here." He was about to continue, though he was unsure why he was being so civil all of a sudden to the Potter boy, when the boy spoke again.
"This is probably the worst neighborhood I've ever seen!"
"I'm well aware of that, Potter," the Head of Slytherin snarled. "I don't suppose you'd like to tell me why you followed me?" Suddenly aware of his surroundings, he flashed his onyx gaze tp both sides, then grabbed Potter's wrist and dragged him into the dusty old house. "Tell me what you want and why you followed me! Now!"

Insanely freaked by this point, Harry was too stunned by his teacher's sudden movement to resist. Before he knew what had happened, he was pinned to the inside of the door.
"Tell me what you want and why you followed me! Now!" [/b]
"Um....." Harry started, not having an answer the professor would like, and not liking the look on Snape's face.
Then, something clicked in Harry's brain. When Snape had snarled at him, he'd noticed something very unusual, though he hadn't tried to notice anything. His Potions teacher was.....
Everyone had been right.....Harry hadn't paid much attention to the rumors during his first four years at Hogwarts, but now...everything made sense...
"Are you going to kill me?" he suddenly asked.[/color]

Severus almost backed away at the sudden horror on the Gryffindor seeker's face, but he stood his ground, lips still curved in a sneer.
"Are you going to kill me?"
This time, Severus really did back away. His black eyes narrowed in suspicion. 'Does he know...? If he does, then I've got no choice...'
"Why would you think I would want to kill you, you foolish boy?" he asked, wondering exactly how much Potter thought he knew.

Harry stood there, shocked, as his teacher backed away.
"So...the rumors are true then...." he said. "You really are a-" Harry stopped, noticing the Slytherin's narrow gaze. Shaking off the feeling that gaze gave him, he continued, "A vampire..."

"A vampire..."
The words seemed to echo in Severus's head. 'Damn....' he thought, closing his eyes against the shock still displayed in his student's green eyes. 'I have....no...choice....' Opening his eyes again, he took a step forward and grabbed Potter by the shoulder, pulling the young Gryffindor close and shifting his hand to cover most of the boy's neck.
"You leave me no choice, Potter...." he said out loud before leaning in and sinking his fangs deep into the boy's throat. 'Forgive me....Lily...' he repeated in his mind as he drained the blood from Lily's son.

"Wha...?" Harry managed to gasp as he felt his own warm blood trickle down his neck as Snape sucked at it. 'He is going to kill me....' he thought, panicked.
Drawing on every last bit of his strength, he pushed at Snape, attempting to get away, but it was all in vain. 'I don't want to die!'

Severus clamped down tighter on Potter's neck the harder the boy pushed him away.
When he pulled back, the thought crossed his mind that he couldn't leave the boy here to die. Albus would surely have something to say about it if the boy didn't show up for term. He could almost hear the conversation....Though Albus didn't know what he was, he would still be blamed for the boy's disappearance....it was no secret that he didn't like Potter....
Resolving himself to what he knew must be done, he opened his own wrist and force-fed Potter the blood oozing from the wound.

A flaming red headed young witch took in a deep breath as she approached the door to Number 4 Privet Drive. Despite her mothers comments and objections she left a couple of hours ago with one thing on her mind. To rescue Harry from the heck that he lived in. And that's what she was going to do. No matter what the consequences when she got back home. Ginny would rather be grounded at home with Harry there then to be un-grounded and hanging out with Ron and Hermione, and him be miserable here. She hated it when he was miserable. Because she loved him. If she knew what love was.
Ginny knocked on the door and was shocked to see the Dursley's answer it. Once they told her off she walked away and saw that Harry had been laying there just moments before. She bent down underneath the window and touched the ground. Her assumptions were right, the ground was warmer there.
She sighed and started walking until she couldn't anymore. The sky was turning darker and she was walking into a really bad neighborhood. Ginny ended up walking back to the playground and sat down on a swing hoping he would show up.

Opening his eyes a crack--he hadn't even been aware that he'd closed them--he saw Snape slitting his wrist and realized that he was trying to get Harry to drink the blood.
Disgusted, he tried to force the wrist away, but after a drop or two of the older man's blood touched his lips, he stopped trying to avoid the dripping, sticky mess. With hardly a second thought as to what he was doing, he wrapped his arm around his teacher's arm and pulled the open wound closer, not caring that it was blood he was drinking, or that it was his least favorite teacher he was drinking it from.
Dropping Snape's arm suddenly--or maybe it had been pulled away, Harry wasn't sure which--he closed his eyes again and doubled over in pain. Hissing and screaming, he writhed around on the dusty floor of Number 2, Spinner's End.
After what seemed like an eternity, the pain subsided, and Harry opened his eyes. Everything was amazingly clear, and he felt...very different... As he looked around, he licked his suddenly dry lips and felt, just barely brushing against his tongue, two sharp points. He was a vampire now, he realized.
Standing up, he gazed around, his eyes landing on the grimy window. It must be later than he thought, as the sun was low on the horizon.
"I....I have...I have to get back....the Dursleys will kill me if I'm not back before my cousin..."
Without waiting for a response from his Maker, he wrenched open the door and fled into the approaching twilight.

Ginny shivered as she walked over to a swing. It was starting to get chilly as the night air started to close in on her. There were still no signs of harry and it was worrying her. Had the Dursley's really done something to him this time? Had they locked him up in his room and made her go away just to be cruel to her? Those ideas were very likely so she tried not to ponder on them.
Ginny sat down on the swing and just sat there. She wasn't in the mood to play on the muggle playground. She just wanted to find Harry and go back to the Burrow. She was already in huge amounts of trouble for leaving the house without Fred or George or her father.
