Reaching the park where he had seen Sirius in his third year, Harry stopped. He leaned against a tree to catch his breath, and to try to ease the pangs in his stomach that screamed for blood. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a familiar head of red hair.
'What is Ginny doing here?' he thought as he pushed himself away from the tree and moved closer to the swing set.
When he was close enough to call out to her, he did. "Ginny?"
Taking another few steps forward, he came out of the shadows already surrounding the park.
"What are you doing here? And so late at night....everyone must be worried about you...."

Ginny gasped as if Fred and George had dumped ice cold water on her. Then she got off the swing and slowly made her way towards a figure that had just came out of the shadows. Her heart racing, she slid her hand in her jean pocket which was where her wand was located. But, then the voice clicked in her head and she knew it was Harry.
She called back to him. " Well, Fred and George know that I'm here. I'm rescuing you from here. I'm taking you to the Burrow." Ginny left out the part that her mum and dad objected to this but he didn't need to know that right now.

Rescuing him? About time! He'd been waiting for weeks for someone to come for him.
"So...everyone's at the Burrow? How come nobody told me in their letters?" During the whole ordeal with Snape, he had forgotten how much he hated everyone for not telling him anything...and now his anger at them returned ten-fold. But now, Ginny was here, and she was saving him...
"You're a good friend, Gin," he said, pulling her close and hugging her tightly.
Suddenly, as if the world was conspiring against him, everything turned dark and cold. "Um...Gin? We should probably get going now, huh?"

Ginny jumped slightly and looked down at the ground. This was the reason she was rescuing Harry. He didn't belong here. Not at all. Being treated like the way he was at the Dursley's...
"You're a good friend, Gin,"
Her face turned red as he complimented her. Then it got even deeper as he hugged her tightly. " Thanks Harry. It's good to hear that from someone other then Hermione. No offense to her but, she's like my only close friend right now. Besides you." Blushing an even deeper red it soon faded and she looked up and listened to what he said next.
"Yeah we should get your stuff." Ginny hugged herself as she was only wearing a muggle t-shirt and a pair of jeans. The wind was started to pick up and it was getting darker then usual. She looked up at the sky and noticed the swings were moving and the newspaper she had seen on the road was been thrown around in the wind.

Harry nodded, and was about to lead the way back to Number 4 when there was a rattleing noise coming from behind them and to the left a bit. Then, there was an echo of the sound behind Ginny. For a moment, he was confused as to how he could pinpoint the disturbing noises like that, but then he remembered he was a vampire.
"Um...Ginny...please tell me you can hear it too..." he whispered, heart filling with dread as he reached for his wand.

Ginny looked around. She had been so focused on looking at the errie sky that she wasn't listening to anything else. When she heard Harry's voice she looked at him, and looked around still confused by what was going on now.
Keeping her ears and eyes open, Ginny reached for her wand and pulled it out. " What did it sound like Harry?" Then she heard the sound of a dog barking. A gasp escaped her lips and she looked around too that the dog was across the street in someone's locked up yard. Then Ginny could hear the sound of wind chimes and she walked a little closer to Harry starting to get freaked out. "What's going on Harry?"

Harry glanced around, letting his new vampire eyes see everything they could. "Dementors...." he whispered. "There are Dementors here.....but how? Why?"
There was a swoosh of cold air and suddenly the thing was upon him. "Get...off!" he kicked out at the shape, then hurried to protect Ginny. "Gin...there are two dementors here...go to Number 4 Privet Drive...force your way in if you have to...use Hedwig to get a note to Dumbledore..."
Before he could give her more instructions, one of the dark creatures swooped over him again. Without thinking, he thrust his wand at the shadow and called out.
"Expecto Patronum!" Immediatly, the familiar silver stag shot out of Harry's wand and charged down the first dementor.

Ginny screamed as a dementor floated over Harry. She pointed her wand at it but then remembered that she didn't know how to get rid of them.
"Gin...there are two dementors here...go to Number 4 Privet Drive...force your way in if you have to...use Hedwig to get a note to Dumbledore..." "Harry I won't leave you here by yourself." Her Gryffindor personality traits showing through. Suddenly she had wished her and Harry left earlier.
Hearing his shout she watched the stag erupt from the end of his wand and attack one of the dementors. Then it was gone. But, the sky was still dark and the air still cold. Ginny ran over towards Harry, wand still out trying to figure out what to do next.

Turning to face Ginny, he cursed the fact that his last memory wasn't strong enough to repel both dementors.
He pointed his wand over her shoulder at the dementor coming up behind her, and summoned up another memory.
"Duck," he whispered to Ginny, then shouted the Patronus Charm again. As the second dementor fled, he sank to his knees. The total darkness ebbed away and he could see the stars.
Between breaths, he said, "All right....the world officially hates me....let's get out of here..." And he stood up shakily, pocketing his wand and led the way back to Number 4.

Ginny did as she was told and ducked. She was really impressed with his talent at getting rid of them. When he sunk to his knees Ginny got down beside him and placed her hands on his knees comfortingly. Letting out the breath she had been holding in she got up with Harry and started following him back to Number 4 Privet Drive.
As they were walking in comfortable silence, she felt something wet drop on her head. Reaching up she wiped it off. Then a couple of minutes later rain started pouring down. Damn. Why was it so difficult to get Harry home safely? " The world doesn't hate you. At least I don't." The words came out of her mouth before she could stop them. Ginny walked up so she was in step with him as they kept walking.

Harry smiled careful to conceal his new fangs.
"The world may not hate me, but a lot of people surely do," he ammended. They stopped in front of Number 4, and Harry visibly braced himself before opening the door.
"What do you think you're playing at, coming home this late?" his aunt screamed, but Harry ignored her.
"You answer your aunt when she asks you a question boy!" Uncle Vernon shouted, obviously not noticing the red-haired fourth year standing behind him.
Before Harry could roll his eyes and reply in the usual fashion, there was a tapping at the window. Harry crossed to the window and let in the owl.
Gulping, he took off the letter and read it as the owl flew away.
"What does it say?" Vernon asked, glaring poisonously at Harry.
"Nothing you would be interested in!" Harry snapped back. He wasn't about to tell his aunt, uncle, and cousin about his undead status, and that's exactly what the note covered.
Dear Mr. Potter, it has come to our attention that you are now a member of the day-walking undead. You will be required to attend a Ministry-sanctioned hearing on 12 August to assure the Wizengamot that you are not a danger to your school mates. You will also be required to present your wand at the shop of origin for modifications. Sincerely, Argle Rayburn, Head of the Department for the Regualtion and Control of Magical Creatures, Ministry of Magic
'Great....' he thought as he rolled his eyes in exasperation. As if his summer couldn't get any worse.
"Come on, Ginny...let's get my stuff packed." he said to her as he started climbing the stairs to his room.

Ginny sighed and watched him brace himself. As they walked inside She jumped at the sound of his aunt's and uncles' harsh words. Ginny mentally sighed knowing that she was going to be getting that from her mum when she got back home. She was honestly amazed at how well Harry handled it. But then again, he had handled this for years.
As Harry read the letter she looked at him curiously. Then he started walking up the stairs and she sent a glare before taking a step in the direction of Harry's room. "Wait a second who're you? I didn't know Potter had friends!" Dudley's voice boomed over the house. " Mummy mummy Potter's got a friend!" Ginny pulled her wand out of her pocket. "Take a step closer to me and your grandchildren will feel it." She wasn't going to use magic but it got Dudley to shut up.
Placing her wand back in her pocket she ran up to Harry's room. " I'm sorry you had to stay here almost all summer. Really I am Harry." She looked at him with a sincere appologetic look.

"It's no big deal really..." Harry started as he opened his bedroom door. "Don't mind the mess...I rarely feel like cleaning up..."
He went to the desk and grabbed his potions text and his transfiguration book. He put them in the trunk and started grabbing piles of robes and muggle clothes off the floor.
"Why did it take so long for someone to get up the sense to come for me? Don't they know how lonely I've been...with only memories of Cedric's death to keep me company?" he asked, not really expecting an answer.

"Harry I live Ron, Fred, and George. I don't think you're room could be that bad." She gave a light smile before following him in.
"Why did it take so long for someone to get up the sense to come for me? Don't they know how lonely I've been...with only memories of Cedric's death to keep me company?"
Ginny silently gulped. She knew this was going to come up. The question was when. " Harry I was going to come get you sooner but Dumbledore said it'd be best to leave you here. He sid it was safer here." She paused for a second gathering up her thoughts. " But, the longer summer went on I kept thinking about you. And so last night I made up my mind to get you. With Fred and George's help with money for the train and such I came here as quick as I could. " She made a move to help put Harry's broom and handed it to him.
" Oh and Happy Birthday Harry." Ginny pulled a small box of pumpkin pasties and chocolate frogs out and handed it to him with a card.

Harry looked up, having thought that she wouldn't have answered. Though, in some small, insignificant way, he was glad she did.
"Oh....Dumbledore said....." Harry sighed. "Dumbledore doesn't know what I've been through here..." He instantly regretted saying that when he heard the hard bitterness in his own voice.
He took the broom from her, with a quiet "Thanks."
"Oh and Happy Birthday Harry."
His eyes widened slightly as he accepted the sweets and card. In the terror of becoming a vampire and being attacked by dementors, he'd forgotten that today was his fifteenth birthday. "Thanks, Ginny. How are we getting to the Burrow? Neither of us can Apparate...and I doubt you have a portkey..."
